Aryna Sabalenka Surprised with Her Honesty in Paris: “They Said I Was Too Stupid”

The tennis player from Minsk is famous for being able to surprise with her statements. This time, the number 1 of the WTA ranking decided to talk about the past, referring to the words she said during one of the conferences during Roland Garros 2025. It hit the head of... Sabalenka's former coaches.
Aryna Sabalenka on criticism. She clearly identified former coachesWhat exactly is it? On social media, more specifically on the well-known profile "The Tennis Letter", a post appeared regarding the words of the Belarusian from Friday's press conference after winning the match at Roland Garros.
The question was about coaches from the regions she comes from, who – to put it mildly – did not recognize the talent of the current world number 1. Sabalenka decided to address the interested parties directly.
- I've always been quite motivated. The coaches didn't have to push me. But I've heard a lot of them say that I'm not smart enough, that I'm too stupid and that I'll never make it. And that I don't have what it takes to get to the top. I think I want to give them a quick answer so that they quit their jobs. Honestly, I think they don't know anything and it's better if they quit to save other players - the tennis player admitted with a little wink.
In Friday's third-round match, the world ranking leader defeated Olga Danilović. The Serb lost to Sabalenka 2:6, 3:6, and the match lasted less than 1.5 hours. In the next round, the tournament's "number one" will face the "sixteen" of this year's competition in the capital of France. Amanda Anisimova, representing the USA, is seeded with this number.
Roland Garros: Iga Świątek's hit match in the quarterfinals!Friday's matches also resolved the issue related to the fourth-round match played by the defending champion. Iga Świątek, because that's who we're talking about, will play Jelena Rybakina in the fight for the quarterfinals of Roland Garros 2025. The Kazakhstani dealt with the "nightmare" of the Polish woman, the Latvian Jelena Ostapenko.
Świątek and Rybakina have already faced each other twice in 2025. In both cases, the Pole was on top. The overall balance during the careers of both women is an equal draw, with four wins for Rybakina and the same number for Świątek. Looking at the ranking and how the Pole has historically performed in Paris, she seems to be the favorite of the match. However, Rybakina certainly cannot be underestimated, because on her good day, she is one of the best players on the WTA tour.
